£2 million bill for falls in Staffordshire streets

Over the past three years, more than £2 million compensation has been paid out to pedestrians who have been injured as a result of a fall on Staffordshire's roads and pavements.
The number of claims in Staffordshire has risen over the last three years from 468 to 686 claims a year, and may be a result of a cut in the county council's budget for maintaining roads and footpaths.
However, the number of claims has also increased in Stoke on Trent, although the city's council has increased its road and footpath maintenance budget.
