News: Ministry of Defence seeks to cut soldiers' compensation

Date: 28/07/2009

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is attempting to cut compensation which has already been paid out to two injured soldiers. The compensation was paid out to the servicemen as a result of one soldier being shot in Iraq and the other being injured during training.

The payouts that the soldiers received were increased as they both suffered complications as a result of their injuries; however the MoD says that the compensation should only be for the original injuries and should therefore be reduced.

Both of the soldiers have stated that they have suffered a number of subsequent health complications as a result of their treatment. They expressed that they feel that the compensation should be rewarded for all health issues relating to their original injuries.
